To my fans: Thank you!
A letter to Mr. Steve Jobs about Ping from an Indie Musician
I have to admit, I was a bit crushed when I tried out Ping today only to find out that Independent artists are shut out from it at this time. You can read two articles I found online about this if you want:
iTunes Ping ignores independent artists

iTunes Ping: The missing thing
http://edition.cnn.com/2010/TECH/social.media/09/03/cashmore.itunes.ping/index.html?hpt=Sbin#fbid=j5bn8rbZh27&wom=true
I understand that maybe the Apple iTunes team is rolling things out in phases, but I was encouraged by my friend @kbt229 to write to Mr. Jobs and given his email address.
I have no idea if he will read it, but this is what I wrote to him:
Dear Mr. Jobs,
I hope you are having an awesome day today.
I wanted to write you a quick note to ask why Ping is invite only and not open to Independent artists?
Do you remember when Apple was a seed? I bet you do. You had to plant that seed, water it, tend its young branches and encourage it to grow. Once you got that first awesome fruit, you wanted to share it with the world and when people liked it they told other people about that tasty little fruit and well… look at you now… fruits, pods, branches, leaves… I mean, you are a forest now all because of word of mouth, carrying those seeds, growing your forest!!! That's awesome!
Well Mr. Jobs, I'm a tasty little Independent fruit and right now no one can use Ping to taste my fruit and share it with others and that makes me one sad fruit.
If no one can share me when they taste me my branches will wither and my fruit will disappear.
Please help make Ping open so that Independent fruits like me can be tasted and shared.
Thanks for reading and have a beautiful, juicy day!
With love,
A little Indie fruit named Natalie Brown
